Duration:
01/10/2023 to 29/02/2024
Abstract / short description:
As a result of the events of recent years, disaster management has gained in importance in the public perception in Germany. The management of extreme weather events and human made disasters has revealed a wide range of potential for development. To address this sitaution, knowledge about the current status quo is necessary. For example, with regard to the current measures and strategies for the consideration of people with disabilities in disaster management in Germany. Knowledge is largely lacking here. Against the background of a specifically high risk for persons with disabilities in disasters, which is repeatedly emphasized by the United Nations, the project aims to identify target-oriented development potentials. The planned study contributes to the further development of the German disaster management by surveying the status of the implementation of inclusion in disaster management in Germany and thus identifying development potentials and needs. The study focusses on the states of North Rhine Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate.
