Duration:

Abstract / short description:
The study idea is based on the concept of municipal health promotion and supplements it with ecological sustainability. In the development phase, a concept for "resilient communities/cities" is developed in a participatory process on the basis of (inter)national preliminary work (macro level). At the meso level, two interventions are being developed for people at the transition/beginning of the third phase of life together with municipalities/cities from the ZÖGV partner network, with citizens and on the basis of the existing evidence. The focus here is on nutrition and/or exercise. "Urban gardening" or municipal greening projects, for example, are considered a suitable approach, which, if designed accordingly, can have positive effects in terms of exercise and/or nutrition of the target group, the microclimate and social participation. The intervention is developed considering the specific needs of population groups, especially people with low income / low education or with a migration background, as well as gender aspects. Here, living conditions and lifestyle are addressed. The evaluation of the health effects is planned as a controlled benefit evaluation at the micro level, supplemented by a qualitative-quantitative process evaluation at the macro and meso level, which also includes aspects of ecological sustainability and social justice. The latter areas are evaluated using indicators that are defined as part of the participatory concept development in the network and considering the content of the intervention. The competences in the group include public health research, expertise in municipal health promotion, development of interventions, planning and implementation of complex intervention studies and health benefit assessment, recording and assessment of indicators for ecological sustainability as well as approaches to reducing and assessing social inequality.
