Title:
Umwandlung von CO2 in wertvolle Produkte: Umleitung des Kohlenstoffflusses in Cyanobakterien"
Duration:
01/05/2023 to 30/04/2026
Abstract / short description:
The project aims to design, implement and evaluate recombinant cyanobacterial strains to gain control over photosynthetically driven biocatalytic processes by engineering a central regulatory mechanism. Our previous work has identified PGAM as a key metabolic valve that is tightly controlled through the action of the inhibitor protein PirC and the PirC-controller PII. Our objectives are to control the expression of the regulatory factors in order to deviate fixed carbon either in direction of lower glycolysis for the synthesis of succinate or towards gluconeogenesis for the synthesis of sucrose.
