Basic data

Title:
Chronologische Studien zum Neolithisierungsprozess entlang der Donau
Duration:
01/01/2023 to 31/12/2025
Abstract / short description:
In the second phase of the project, our research on the Neolithisation process along the Danube will focus on excavations in the Romanian Banat, specifically at the site of Movila lui Deciov, near Dudeştii Vechi. Two settlement phases documented at the site offer the opportunity to investigate the adaptation of a population from the Balkans to local environmental conditions in the first half of the 6th millennium BCE. The excavations started are to be brought to a conclusion in two field campaigns. With the help of micromorphological and ceramological analysis methods, the history of the settlement and the origin of the ceramics are to be examined. A special emphasis is placed on the processing of the organic finds by an archaeobiological working group (Antracology, Palynology, Paleobotany, Paleozoology) in order to understand changes in land use and nutrition in the course of the Early Neolithic settlement development.
