Research focus

TheEnvironmental Toxicology group’s key objective is to understand the causative processes leading to adverse effects by micropollutants, their
mixtures and transformation products and to translate these findings into predictive models for hazard and risk assessment.

The research topics focus on Cellular toxicity pathways: Mechanistic understanding of the underlying principles governing the adverse effect of chemicals on humans, wildlife and ecosystemsBridging human health and environmental risk assessmentEvaluation of mixtures of chemicals, unknowns, transformation products and complex environmental samplesSampling, dosing and understanding the dynamics of chemicals

Laboratories are situated at the Department of Cell Toxicology at the Environmental Research Centre - UFZ – Leipzig and more information on ongoing research and projects can be found at www.ufz.de/index.php.
