Clinical Research Group (CRG)

Relying on CERMEL's expertise in clinical trial execution, the team will be able to provide guidance for potential further clinical development of new interventions. The project will improve the living standards of the local population, because the program offers an excellent platform to the country to respond to health needs. The competitive situation of CERMEL will be improved not only within Gabon, but also on the whole African continent. With this program, we will strengthen the personnel- and organisational development.
However, we don't expect the activities to result in a commercial product. The project contributes to a reinforcement of the partnership between the German institutions, Gabonese institution and CERMEL. We will establish expertise to maintain and increase competence. The programme will increase the capacity of the African site to conduct the clinical studies according to the international standard of GCP, GCLP, ethics, and regulations. We will increase the scientific competitiveness by training of staff and education of successors such as scientists, clinical researchers and physicians. Also, the program enables us to improve collaborations with companies, networks, research centres and transfer points.
Subsequent projects conducted on the CRG will benefit from this program as we will enhance knowledge and capacities with well-educated personnel by gaining further expertise. Within this project, we will establish contact with potential users for ongoing implementation of the results.
