Acronym:
FoPraNet-prevent
Title:
Establishment of a registry focusing on obesity and prevention, and implementation of registry-based studies within the practice-based research network FoPraNet-BW
Duration:
01/04/2026 to 31/03/2031
Abstract / short description:
Despite the growing prevalence of obesity, significant knowledge gaps remain regarding the care of obese patients in German GP practices. A registry focusing on obesity and prevention aims to address this problem. The registry intends to create a sustainable, permanent data platform. In addition to collecting clinical data from GP practice research, the registry will record patients' personal experiences with the quality of care they receive, as well as their health status (→PROMS/ PREMS). Several registry-based studies are planned as part of FoPraNet-prevent. These include a register-based randomized controlled trial (rRCT), a target trial emulation (TTE), and three observational studies focusing on cardiometabolic risk, psychosocial well-being, and gender-specific aspects.
Participating GP practice teams, citizens, and patients are involved in planning, implementing, and evaluating the FoPraNet-prevent project. The long-term registry will serve as a basis for future research projects and contribute to improving care for obese and overweight patients according to their individual needs.
