ProjectCLASS – Collective learning around sustainable spaces
Basic data
Acronym:
CLASS
Title:
Collective learning around sustainable spaces
Duration:
01/12/2025 to 30/11/2027
Abstract / short description:
The rapid evolution of European lifestyles—encompassing shifts in how and where work, consumption, social interaction, education, and leisure are being done—demands a fundamental rethinking of how space is utilized. Common spaces are community-managed resources intended for collective benefit. Their increasing prominence throughout Europe highlights a pressing need to redefine how we live together. In research, they are viewed as dynamic laboratories for reimagining urban and rural futures.
The CLASS project aims to strengthen a European learning community focused on common spaces. To achieve this, a pilot European training program will be designed and implemented to address the need for qualified professionals in the field of common spaces. By combining immersive learning in sustainable spaces with higher education qualification standards, learners in the programme engage with socio-ecological best practices. Beyond advancing professional qualifications, the transnational learning community will promote cross-border collaboration, helping the lead team identify the core challenges and competencies required for future experts in common spaces. The project will also assess the pedagogical approach’s relevance and scalability, laying the groundwork for replicable training programs in other European contexts.
