Abstract / short description:

In this project the chemistry of bis(arene) complexes of low valent group IV metals is being explored. Coordinated by a chelating germylene-phosphine ligand the group metals are reduced to the formal oxidation state zero. In these coordination compounds arene ligands, coordinated at the transition metals, feature due to metal-arene back bonding a characteristic puckered coordination mode. In this project further examples of bis(arene) coordination compounds of low valent group IV metals are synthesized and their reactivity in solution is investigated.
