Title:
Vilm Summer Academies on fundamentals of nature conservation 2026-28
Duration:
01/10/2025 to 28/02/2029
Abstract / short description:
The Vilm Summer Academy brings together people from nature conservation authorities and nature conservation associations, environmental policy makers and volunteers with natural and social scientists, humanities' scholars and other interested members of society. It offers a unique space in Germany to discuss fundamental issues of nature conservation with relevant experts and interested members of society in an intensive and transdisciplinary manner. Both the “why” and the “how” of nature conservation require careful ethical reflection on ecological, social, economic, aesthetic and, in a narrower sense, arguments from moral philosophy.
Each Summer Academy focuses on an overarching question from the field of “Nature Conservation and Society” that relates to current challenges and developments and is thematically linked to the work and research questions of the BfN.
