Title:
NHK Health Services Research: Scientific evaluation of the clinical application of naturopathic procedures during inpatient stays in Berlin, Essen and Bamberg - a multicentre observational study
Duration:
01/05/2025 to 30/11/2026
Abstract / short description:
The aim of this healthcare research project is to scientifically monitor routine inpatient naturopathic care in Germany. The focus is on the naturopathy locations Immanuel Krankenhaus Berlin, Klinikum Bamberg and Evang. Kliniken Essen-Mitte, where inpatient naturopathic therapies (the so-called naturopathic complex therapy) are to be systematically evaluated. This form of therapy, which is reimbursed by statutory health insurance companies (under certain conditions), is based on a combination of various evidence-informed naturopathic approaches. These include so-called hyperthermia, exercise therapy, order therapy, phytotherapy and nutritional therapy measures, including fasting therapies. As part of a multi-centre, prospective, uncontrolled observational study with a pre-/post-inpatient comparison and written follow-ups, the effects and safety of these therapeutic approaches on inpatients in the naturopathy wards of the participating clinics are to be investigated.
