Abstract / short description:
The project aims at studying the influence of strong intermediate-range dipole-dipole interactions of Rydberg atoms on the collective external and internal dynamics of ultracold atom clouds inside an optical high-finesse cavity. In particular, we will investigate the self-organization of the atomic density under the presence of Rydberg blockade. Furthermore, we will demonstrate strong collective two-photon coupling between Rydberg atoms and the cavity field.
