Project Permecut – Genetics and ecology of the inward and outward barriers in vineyard Drosophilidae

Basic data

Acronym:
Permecut
Title:
Genetics and ecology of the inward and outward barriers in vineyard Drosophilidae
Duration:
01/01/2019 to 31/12/2020
Abstract / short description:
In order to assess genetics and molecular biology of the insect lipid coat formation and function, we are addressing the following three fundamental questions using the fruit flies Drosophila melanogaster and Drosophila suzukii as model insects in a comparative approach:
1) Which genes contribute to the genetic variation of cuticle lipid-based inward and outward barrier function in nature?
2) Which genes controlling this inward and outward cuticle barrier contribute to barrier ecology in vineyard Drosophilids in France and in Germany?
3) How can these genes affect the production and the reception of lipid-based pheromonal signals?
