Abstract / short description:
Data on electromagnetic (transition) form factors provide important information on hadron
dynamics and inner structure of nucleon and nucleon resonances. The traditional quark model
refers only to the rest frame, whereas decay and scattering processes require a description of
hadrons in motion. This may be accomplished using Light-Front (LF) wave functions. Contributions
of Fock states beyond |qqqi necessarily exist for relativistic dynamics, and are seen
in DIS. Such contributions can be modelled as |qqq q¯qi, |qqq gi and as meson-baryon states
|MBi. Comparisons between models and form factor data indicate that the higher Fock states
contribute mainly for Q2 . 2 GeV2, whereas “quark core” |qqqi states remain at higher Q2.
This is consistent with dimensional counting rules and pQCD expectations. Higher Fock states
appear to be enhanced for radial excitations such as the Roper N∗(1440). Contributions of
higher Fock states may be described either in the quark-gluon (|qqq q¯qi, |qqq gi, . . . ) or hadron
(|MBi , . . .) basss.
