Title:
Nanotopography meets wetting - Development of an optimized surface characteristic for the soft tissue response at the transgingival area
Duration:
01/07/2017 to 31/07/2019
Abstract / short description:
Rapid re-establishment and sound anchorage of the gingival seal to the dental implant or abutment surface is one prerequisite for implant success. Nanotopography of the implant/abutment surface in combination with wetting phenomena influence all phases of the healing sequence.
The main aim of our project is to identify by quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) and cell culture studies an optimized combination of nanostructure and wettability in order to improve the transgingival soft tissue response without increasing bacterial colonization.
