Title:
Einfluss der Darmflora auf die Entwicklung der Synucleinopathie in Nagetiermodellen des Morbus Parkinson
Duration:
01/07/2016 to 30/06/2019
Abstract / short description:
Multiple evidences indicate that Parkinson´s disease starts in the gastrointestinal tract. However, despite
the critical role of the gut flora (also termed microbiome) in the gastrointestinal tract function and integrity,
its contribution to the development of the disease is poorly studied. For this purpose, we will use rat as
laboratory animals have a control diet and exposure to germ and therefore a more reproducible and less
variable flora than the complex human situation. To induce Parkinson disease in these rats, we will use a
transgenic rat model modeling a familial form of the disease and which was previously shown to develop
the marl of the disease in both brain and gut.
