Abstract / short description:
The project aims at the research of until now unknown medieval music fragments from monasteries of Württemberg in the holdings oft he Hauptstaatsarchiv Stuttgart (and in addition in the Staatsarchiv Ludwigsburg and the Württembergische Landesbibliothek Stuttgart). About ca. 2.000 fragments in situ will be made available through in depth research, cataloging and digitalization. Open acces will be provided via the database „Manuscripta Mediaevalia“ and the web-portal of the Hauptstaatsarchiv Stuttgart. A printed catalogue will present the catalogue entries as well as photographs of selected fragments. The project time is set to 36 months. The project will provide new insights into the until today only partly known or totally unknown musical medieval culture of monasteries in Württemberg prior to the destroying of many mansucripts during the implementation of the reformation 1537 in Württemberg.
