Abstract / short description:
The project investigates the role of educational institutions in the development of information behaviour, media use and media competence among students.

Based on expert interviews the relevance of different media resources in occupational fields will be determined. A standardised survey with two measurement points will map changes in the patterns of media use longitudinally, and enable conclusions regarding both medial cultures specific to certain subject areas and the medial socialisation in the course of the studies. Additionally more in-depth information on students’ patterns of media use will be gathered by means of learning diaries and qualitative interviews. This project is part of the cluster “Heterogeneous informational environments and individual status transitions” of the ScienceCampus Tübingen.
